March 2024
More like a cozy compound than a single house. We were able to spread out over 4 different sleeping buildings so some could be sleeping in or napping while others were socializing at all times of the day. The property was a perfect jumping-off point for our outings into Big Bend. I would certainly recommend Terlingua for large groups of family or friends.

The property has great views of the Chico's mountains, along with numerous areas to sit and enjoy the views. Each day after hiking the Big Bend NP trails, we'd select where to sit on the property to relax and recount the days' adventures.

March 2023 - Most Excellent!
I almost hate to post a review about this place because I don’t want it to be booked up 100% of the time! The house is awesome. The location is awesome. The views were incredible. My family of 5 with my friend’s family of 3 had a great time both at the house and the surrounding areas. There was even live music at the pizza place next door that we could enjoy on the rooftop deck. We are coming back!
– Leigh L, Houston TX
March 2023 - Lovely place

– Shawn J, Atlanta GA
February 2023 - I rented the Terlingua House for the weekend, to have my youngest daughter's Senior Pictures done.
The property was a beautiful backdrop for my daughter's pictures. It was comfortable and roomy enough for us to all spread out and have our own space. I cooked every meal in the kitchen and it is set up and stocked well so that you can have all of your meals without leaving. The wifi was very reliable and I was able to work and my daughter was able to do online classes as well. We will definitely be coming back for a weekend get away soon and bringing more family with us the next time. The property's setup is so unique and accommodating for large groups.
– Barbara M, Valentine TX
November 2022 - Great Family retreat!
Awesome location close to Ghost Town Terlingua and within east walking distance to great Pizza! Loved the views of the Chisos Mountains from the property and we loved how each family had there own space with the house layout. Definitely want to come back when the kiddos are older and I highly recommend this place for groups of 2-3 couples.
– Matthew R, San Antonio TX
November 2022 - Loved it
The three of us really enjoyed our stay at Terlingua House! The room with the view of The Window and the west side of the Chisos is amazing. The entire eastern facing wall is glass and looks directly at the Chisos. You can watch the sunset from the room! The rooms were all very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and functional. The location is close to both the state and national parks, this really worked for us as we went to both parks.
– James L, Austin TX

Terlingua House, with its location, good communal spaces and multiple private buildings on the property, was the perfect place for a small family get-together with siblings and spouses. And that view …!
– Larry Y, San Antonio TX
March 2022 - Unique property in Terlingua
This property was very spacious and unique with lots of character! It is like staying in your own little resort area and perfect for large groups or multiple families/friends traveling together, since there are 3 separate buildings for sleeping. The outdoor living space is nice and there is lots of privacy. The spaces were clean , beds comfortable, and kitchen had all of the amenities. It is very convenient having a washer/dryer, and in fact there are 2 sets! It is very close to the Big Bend National Park entrance and a great option since it is hard to reserve a spot in the small park hotel. The pizza at the bottom of the road was decent and nice to have after a long day at the park...it happened to be open (they have limited days) and we tried some other restaurants recommended by the hosts. Great handbook and hosts are very responsive and helpful. Overall, a very memorable stay!
– Pamela G, Dunlap IL
March 2022 - Authentic

– Sonya S, Longview, TX
January 2022 - Multi Purpose Space
The Terlingua House was fun. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen was well furnished with a huge table and lazy susan. The locks were easy to access. The only challenge was that you have to go outside to go to the bathroom with the shared bath between the non-master bedrooms. Excellent host communication.
– Ronald H, Blufftown, OH

November 2020 - Epic Big Bend trip
Our family had a ball! What a great spot. The rooms worked out well and the observation deck was absolutely perfect for coffee. We ate dinner outside and the kitchen was very adequate. Beautiful views and we will definitely be back! Great spot for a retreat. The pizza spot was clutch the night we pulled in.
- Chris, Hye, TX
November 2020 - Great space in a beautiful place!

September 2020 - This was an amazing location and place to stay.
You can’t beat the location in distance to Big Bend and the pizza restaurant next door was great. Have four separate rooms in a ranch style house was great for the family. The sunsets on the mountain were the best from the upper deck patio. Finally, the stars were everything we could have imagined.
- Jason, Leander, TX
August 2020 - Unique Terlingua House
The house provided everyone with privacy, with each bedroom in their own building. The house was clean with an awesome outdoor area and balcony to view the stars. No complaints here and would definitely stay again.

August 2020 - Unique property with great views
We loved the place. The rooms have great light and awesome views. It feels like a secluded desert lodge with a vintage feel. The kitchen was well organized and my family enjoyed the space.
- Walter, Fort Worth, TX
June 2020 - My Happy Place
The Big Bend is always my go-to and staying at Terlingua House makes it even better. It was our third stay there and it was awesome! Communication with owners and managers is top-notch and very easy. Our large groups will always choose to stay at Terlingua House.
- Cindy E, Abilene, TX
June 2020 - Amazing vistas from rooftop terrace
This is a very unique and charming property that has everything one needs for a comfortable stay with tons of personal touches, such as collected rocks and photos taken on-site. We enjoyed using the telescopes, and spotting 12 mountain goats right in front of the big mountain by the house. It was an ideal spot to spend the night and explore surrounding areas. Having said that - Terlingua is a very remote location, and it was appreciated that kitchen had all the basics - like salt and pepper, cause finding a store close-by is a challenge if you run out of anything.
- Alexia, Houston, TX
May 2020 - Great hideaway
The home was so roomy. Since we were only three people, we had plenty of room to spread out.
- Linda S, Seguin, TX
February 2020 - Great house for friends and family
We have been to Terlingua area before but this house suited our needs the best. Great response on questions and comments. The house was as represented and will book again next year. Thanks.
- Ferris F, Nacogdoches, TX
January 2020 - A cross between glamping and a lodge
We enjoyed our stay in this unique setting very much. As they state, there are four separate buildings so you get the privacy of your own room. I can see how this would be great for a group of families or friends. We had a group of 5 people and it cost less than 2 hotel rooms and provided much more. In the winter be prepared to turn on heaters. Also one of the bathrooms was connected but required a 10 foot walk outside, I wish I'd thought to bring some slip on shoes for easy trips between buildings. There is a kitchen and small store in town, we chose to eat out mostly and there are a handful of restaurants in the vicinity. The location is perfect for Big Bend. - Sierra L, Aledo, TX
October 2019 - Great HouseVery interesting house. We really enjoyed staying here. Everything was clean and lots of room. - Karen B, Burleson, TX
October 2019 - Did NOT Disappoint!Perfect place for two families to stay together. Beautiful surroundings, gorgeous sunrise and amazing view of the stars! Easy access to Big Bend. - Billy C, Lake Jackson, TX
October 2019 - What a lovely surprise in our new favorite town!We knew that the property seemed unique when we saw the pictures, but nothing really does justice for this quaint, well accommodated property until you get to see it for yourself! My guests and I really loved everything about this property. Three couples shared the bedrooms and one single slept on an air mattress in the kitchen. The property is stunning and includes two campfire sites well stocked with wood, the kitchen is well accommodated, yet doesn't have the stuffiness of some more modern properties. The staff were able to accommodate our early arrival and we were just all so pleased by the beauty of the scenery and the convenience of having a wonderful pizza joint at the bottom of the driveway. We will definitely be returning to Terlingua House because we know there is much more to explore! - D. Browne, Richardson, TX
September 2019 - The property was very nice. The view was beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was nice to have several separate quarters to sleep in. If some want to stay up late and others go to bed early. We very much enjoyed the stay. - Derek K, Slaton, TX

April 2019 - Excellent stayEverything was just great. Kitchen is well stocked, and the whole place has a very nice layout. We were a group of four adults and five children, but could easily have fit another small family. Close to town and to the park. - Hannah M, Austin, TX
April 2019 - Great family placeVery spacious and great location. - Meg M, Dallas, TX
April 2019 - PerfectionThe Terlingua guest house was amazing in every way! The house was large enough where our group could split up if some wanted to get to bed early and others wanted to stay up late, enjoying the stars and fire pit, but also cozy and accommodating for a group dinner in the kitchen! My favorite part of the house was the second story patio; perfect for a glass of wine while watching the sunset and equally beautiful with a cup of coffee before making the short drive out to the national park for some hiking. The house is close enough to conveniences (Starlight Theatre, liquor store) but still secluded. The ONLY thing that could make this house any closer to perfection would be a hot tub, but I’m sure in the desert that would not be an easy feat. Next time out west I will DEFINITELY stay at Terlingua House. Thank you for a wonderful stay! - Amanda W, Austin TX
March 2019 - Wonderful GemThis is the perfect place to stay for easy access to Terlingua and Big Bend National Park! Great kitchen and facilities, comfortable beds and fantastic views. 3 of our party got to watch Big Horn Sheep on the cliff across from the house one evening. The star facing was fantastic from the 2nd floor deck and picnic area. Would definitely stay there again! - Sarah S, San Antonio,TX
March 2019 - Great LocationTerlingua House is a great location to explore Big Bend NP. The house is spacious and the seven in my group had ample space. The bedrooms are very spacious. We had a very good time in Terlingua. - Theresa B, Wantage, NJ

February 2019 - Everything you needWe had a great time. The house is well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. The location is perfect with access to both the national and the state park. I’ve stayed there many years and every year it gets better. - GG R, San Antonio, TX
February 2019 - Family & FriendsOh My Gosh, everything was perfect!! The house was amazing, the beds were so comfortable, the fire pit was fantastic......We had everything we needed. We will come back & tell everyone we know about our stay. Thank You, Terlingua House!! - Roana C, League City, TX
December 2018The Terlingua House is a great place to stay! Off the beaten path a little and so quiet. We had a group of 5 people stay here in December 2018. The layout of the property makes it feel like your own secluded resort. The kitchen is a fun spot to hang out and eat and drink. Great star gazing at night and beautiful sunrises (ended up not being around the house for any sunsets). Beds were comfortable and we never had any issues with hot water running out in the showers. I would definitely stay here again! - Kristyn E, Bedford, TX
November 2018Beautiful home with a great view! My OLD (Class of '65) high school buddies and I had a great time last weekend at Terlingua House! It was our first time to stay there and we highly-recommend it. Our dealings with Cara Snyder, who handles rentals, were very pleasant. Cara was efficient and friendly...The entire experience couldn't have been better! - David S, Nacogdoches, TX
October 2018Wonderful place to stay while in Big Bend We stayed three nights with another couple and just loved the place. It was so comfortable and had everything we needed. The stars at night were magnificent and location was perfect for our Big Bend stay. We will definitely stay there again in the future. - Mickey D, Brazoria, TX
September 2018Unique property layout fostering togetherness as well as solitude. We spent 6 nights at the Terlingua House in Sept 2018. We loved the separate building layout - we had never seen anything like it before. The property is set close to the road but elevated above it. We could hear the occasional vehicle pass by but otherwise the property was quiet. The kitchen area was well-appointed and everything was in working order. There was a large capacity washer and dryer and well as a stackable washer/dryer unit available to guests. The 3 bedrooms (each in a different building) and 2 bathrooms were clean, comfortable and had plenty of linens, blankets and towels. Rooms were decorated with beautiful pictures of the area as well as items from local artists. The small roof top seating area was perfect for watching the lovely sunsets. We spent most of our days in Big Bend National Park. Terlingua House was approximately 15-20 minutes from it's entrance. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again! - Steve S, Cherry Valley, IL
July 2018 - Great House!
This house worked perfectly for my family. I have 4 boys ranging in age from 26-9. The separate bedroom buildings worked very well because I was able to put my 9 year old to bed and the big kids and I could play games in the kitchen and be as loud as we wanted and not wake him up! My oldest is married so giving him and his wife their own building worked well. We had 7 in our group. There was more than enough room for everyone. I think I could have had 5 more people! It is a great house for a large group. This is the third house I've rented with VRBO and I think it was the best one so far! Thank you.
- Kris C, Sugarland, TX
June 2018 - Great Place, Great locationNestled in the charming town of Terlingua you are right there next to Big Bend for a full day of activities and the Terlingua Ghost Town for an evening of fun. The place is comfortable, has everything you need to do a vacation right and affords everyone privacy in the evenings. Of course the evening views are absolutely fantastic. I'll be back again. - Scott W, Double Oak, TX
May 2018 - Fantastic Time At Terlingua HouseWhat a great stay here at Terlingua house. The house had all the things I needed in the kitchen. Even had a long extension cord so we could watch movies outside in the courtyard under the stars using our small projector. The set up of the small casitas allows for privacy between couples at night and the common area was great for having meals. Wifi signal and internet speeds were quite good and allowed us to keep in touch with the outside world, although we did try to unplug as much as possible. The last night here offered the most brilliant night sky my friends from the city had ever seen. We even got lucky and saw a falling meteor, not just a falling star. It was bright and appeared to fall over on the Mexico side. Amazing sight! We definitely will be back to Terlingua house again. - Ivan G, Houston, TX
April 2018Terlingua House was a great find. The house is so comfortable with the three separate buildings each housing a bedroom giving everyone privacy. The rooms were huge and the beds comfortable. WiFi worked perfectly and there were many plugs in each room. The kitchen was well stocked and had a round table to seat 8 comfortably. The night sky was viewed from an upstairs terrace and was beautiful. I highly recommend this place. – Carol H, Houston, TX
March 2018Terlingua House was perfect for our first trip to Big Bend. The unique layout and beautiful setting made it a great place to come back to after a long day exploring the Big Bend area. It was so quiet and peaceful. We saw owls, rabbits and Texas Horned Frogs right on the property. Long Draw Pizza was a pleasant surprise, the food was delicious and the beer was cold. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was plenty of space to move around. Definitely going back. – Michele G, McGregor, TX
March 2018Great stay at terlingua house. Exceeded expectations, even as a repeat visitor. Well stocked and well laid out with plenty of room and amenities. Best place to stay in the Big Bend area in my opinion. – Chris O, Houston, TX
January 2018Terlingua House was perfect for our group of eight adults! Comfy beds, private spaces, great patio views and a fully functioning kitchen. The 2 sets of w/d were nice and reduced the need to overpack clothes. The eclectic separation of bedrooms 2 & 3 and shared bath might not be for everyone but we found it interesting and it worked great. This is our second visit and we'll definitely return. – Lagodeb, La Porte, TX
December 2017We love this property. Would not change a thing. This was my third time renting it and won't be my last. – Jaime D, Fort Worth, TX
November 2017We have stayed here several times, and are return customers. Property Mgrs are “hands on” with management ...facilities are dependably clean and well supplied with kitchen supplies (with coffee) and washer/dryer (with detergent) are always a plus...I don’t go home with a lot of dirty clothes. A positive experience and will plan to go back soon. Thank You Terlingua House !!! – Wayne W, Weatherford, TX
November 2017We had a great time! It was great finding a place that accommodated all ten of us. Rustic, charming and comfortable! – Charlotte H, Sunrise Beach, TX
November 2017The house was better then expected. The rooms were very clean. The kitchen had everything needed to cook our meals. I would highly recommend. – Paul H, Leander, TX
October 2017We had a great time at Terlingua House. They house came fully stocked with everything you would need in the kitchen, bedrooms, and baths. Awesome views from the back patio of wildlife, stars, and the surrounding scenery. I would definitely recommend for a trip to see Big Bend and experience the area. 2 miles from the Startlight Theater and 10 minutes to Lajitas. Our host, Cara, was very responsive to any questions that we had throughout the trip. Enjoyed having Long Draw Pizza next door for a easy dinner at the house. – David D, Houston, TX
August 2017My vacation plans didn't go as planned due to unforseen circumstances. The only thing that did was our rental. The layout was unique and the views beautiful. We definitely plan on returning, when we do we will be booking the Terlingua house. – Cathy C, San Antonio, TX
May 2017The house is perfect, very quiet location. Their is lots of privacy between each bedroom as well given its unique three building arrangement. The kitchen was a great place to meet and plan the adventures for the day. The overall location within Terilinqua is perfect as well, situated centrally for both the National and State parks...with both entrances near by (go right for Big Bend national park, left for the State Park!!!). The roof balcony was a lot of fun viewing the lunar rise each night in the dark sky...being able to see the Jupiter moons with the small provided telescope was an added bonus! The kitchen, rooms, bathrooms and property were well stocked, clean, and comfortable! Having our "own" restaurant (Long Draw Pizza) walking distance was great after long days of adventures, seeing and doing all there is to do in the area...the owner of Long Draw Pizza is real nice and provided a real personal/local touch to the vacation. My family (w/ 4-kids all under age of 12) and I really enjoyed this vacation! We may never stay in a "normal" hotel again! – Brian, San Antonio, TX
April 2017We loved Terlingua House. The location is ideal in proximity to the Ghost town as well as the park entrance. There are 4 separate buildings, 3 bedroom buildings and 1 kitchen/living space. The kitchen was small but functional and has everything you need (including a mixer and a blender). We spent most of our time gathered in the courtyard area and also enjoyed the fire pit for some star gazing in the evening. The beds were very comfortable. The home is directly off of the road but sits on a hill so there is minimal road noise. The pizza place is located at the bottom of the driveway/ We will definitely rent again on our next trip to Big Bend. – Katie B, San Antonio, TX
April 2017Enjoyed the main kitchen as well as the privacy of individual rooms. Close to Starlight Theatre which you won't want to miss! – KT, Sugar Land, TX
April 2017My family enjoyed staying at Terlingua house. It was a very comfortable stay, very quiet, and it was nice to be near amenities (grocery stores and restaurants in Terlingua). It has a full kitchen, a nice patio, and 2 barbecue grills. It is about a 20 minute drive to the Big Bend entrance and 40 minutes total to the first Big Bend visitor center. They were easy drives. All the rooms had A/C systems that worked well. The star gazing was amazing as it is so dark there. There is ample space for a large group to be very comfortable. There are enough beds to comfortably sleep 14 people but I don't know how many the owners allow at one time. The kitchen is well equipped and the barbecue grills work well. We enjoyed making campfires at night in the firepit and making smores. I would stay here again. Cara has excellent communication if you have any questions. Thanks! – Jerry, Dallas, TX
March 2017We had a great time at Terlingua House. Nice, clean, and relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of room for multiple families. Really liked the location as it was close to town and an easy drive to Big Bend and to the scenic drive to Presidio. Enjoyed dinner at the Starlight Theater and the pizza at The Long Draw Pizza place was excellent. Highly recommend the hike to The Window in Big Bend. – Dana R, Brazoria, TX
February 2017We have been going to the Big Bend for several years and have stayed in several places. We love Terlingua House for several reasons. First, the location is perfect for dividing your time between the national park and the state park. The whole house is well taken care of and though it is right off the road you can hardly tell. The kitchen is well appointed for making your own meals and we eat like kings! The bedrooms are well maintained and private with plenty of room to spread out. There is good internet connectivity so you don't have to feel disconnected if you don't want to. I look forward to next year! – GG R, San Antonio, TX
February 2017This is our 8th Feb visit here and we consider it our home away from home - we love it!! – Bren M, San Antonio, TX
January 2017This was my 2nd time staying at Terlingua House. It is the perfect retreat. You can see bighorn sheep up in the canyon in the morning, hear coyotes, look at stars and be in a comfortable setting where you can cook, do laundry after a day of hiking or adventuring in Big Bend and are 2 minutes drive or a short walk to the ghost town. Thanks so much. We love love love it here. – Scott R, Austin, TX
January 2017What an amazing place to stay while visiting Big Bend. Was an amazing setup that added to the adventure. Loved the evening camp fire while watching the stars. Loved the sunrise and sunsets in this amazing venue, the crow's nest (upper deck) was great for drinking a morning coffee to an evening glass of wine. Can't wait to get back to Terlingua House soon!!! – Laura K, Castroville, TX
August 2016We stayed for four days in August and had a great time. The house is exactly as described and has lots of room - for us four it was hard to decide where to sleep first :-) The little town of Terlingua has much more to offer than we first expected - no need to bring a lot of supplies unless you want to save money: the local grocery store is of course a bit more expensive than a big city supermarket. – Andrea S, Alexandria, VA
August 2016Terlingua House was a great “home base” while we did hiking in the Big Bend area! It was great to come back to a hot shower and air-conditioning each night. We loved it here! – Polly & Brett, Vermont/Connecticut

We explored the lost mine trail and out to the canyon. Swam the Rio Grande and also walked the riverbed outside the house. Fire pit was a definite bonus! Thanks so much, will recommend to anyone who mentions a Big Bend trip. – Andy, Rosa, Brian, Eddie, and Bear, Manor, TX

May 2016Two years ago, in late January, we stayed at Terlingua House to celebrate my 50th birthday. We fell in love with Terlingua House and its rustic charm. We still dream about going back to visit! Terlingua House is perfectly situated for day trips to Terlingua, the Ghost Town, Big Bend National Park, Big Bend State Park, and Lajitas. The sunrises at Terlingua House are amazing to behold. To sit with a warm cup of coffee and enjoy the beauty of nature in the morning is unforgettable. Then, to close out the day with an amazing sunset is the icing on the cake. My son and husband climbed the cliff behind the house to check out the caves. They loved it! Terlingua House is not like being at home. It's truly an adventure! We loved the little keys hanging in the kitchen to access each of the bedrooms, the roof top deck, and the delicious artisan pizza place with live music right next door. The little lounging area in the kitchen was perfect for the kids while we prepared meals and the bedrooms were spread out enough we didn't feel like we were on top of one another while there. Everyone had space to roam and play and explore. We enjoyed evenings by the fire pit, too. Dreaming of coming back and cannot wait! – LW, Van Alstyne, TX

February 2016Had a great time! Love the sunrises in the morning! Will return again. – BF, Monahans, TX
February 2016We stayed 3 nights and we enjoyed every minute of it! It was very relaxing. The sunrises were breath taking and the nights were awesome....very dark but plenty of stars in the sky. We ziplined, golfed in nearby Lajitas and had an awesome time! We didn't go into Big Bend this time but plan to on our next trip! Too bad the next available date for this house is in late June. The house is big enough to accommodate all our family even thought this time around only 4 of us stayed due to unforeseen circumstances! Terlingua House is in the perfect location ....we are panning our return trip soon! Love the scenery an the local people. We will be back! – Oneida B, Monahans, TX

December 2015We can't say enough about what an awesome place this is!!! It is extremely functional with two sets of washers/dryers for guests to use...but, they also throw in the detergent, bleach and fabric softener to go with the laundry!! The way the guest units are arranged allows for a comfortable stay for a couple, two couples, a Party or a Reunion....Patio area, star gazing area for telescope/binoculars and a great fire pit for socializing or cooking wieners and marshmallows. Lastly, plenty of linens, blankets and an awesomely stocked kitchen....also, two BBQ pits for cooking out on patio/deck area...We soooo enjoyed our stay...didn't want to leave. This will definitely be a do-over!! Love, love, love this place! – WW, Weatherford, TX

October 2014When we decided to meet with friends and go to Big Bend National Park, I searched on the internet for lodging near Big Bend. I wanted something with kitchen facilities and multiple bedrooms close to the park. When we came across the Terlingua House site, I thought it would be perfect for us, and the other couple agreed. I made the deposit and reservation, and the rest is history. We really enjoyed our stay at Terlingua House; the eclectic styling and furnishings, as well as the setting, made for an enjoyable experience. Thanks so much. – LR
May 2014We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. In addition to spending time in the park, we made side trips to the Observatory and Fort Davis. We have stayed at Terlingua House in the past and have always enjoyed our stays. Also, have recommended Terlingua House to many, many people including a recent inclusion in a blog to a group of Delta Airlines retirees. No recommendations for improvement at all. You guys just keep making it better!!
March 2014Our family just enjoyed spending another wonderful spring break at Terlingua House - this was our third stay visiting since 2006. I think this property and a visit to Terlingua and Big Bend country is all about expectations... we camped outside the park the first couple of times we visited this area and while rustic and down to earth - we wanted more comfort.
After our first stay at Terlingua House, we felt as if we were Brewster County royalty. It's private and quiet (when cars aren't passing along the highway below). It's ideal if traveling with a couple of families or extended family as there are three separate sleeping areas with a semi-connecting bath (2 baths total). The drive to BBNP is a breeze, the ghost town is just a couple of miles down the road and Lajitas is a short drive west.
The owner has acknowledged that there are some areas for improvement and they are being implemented but, in our opinion, any minor inconveniences are far outweighed by the many pluses this property has to offer... walk up the slope and take in the sunrise over the Chisos, have a beverage on the deck above the patio at the end of the day, make a small camp fire in the rock ringed fire pit next to the studio.
We really treasure Terlingua House for its simplicity and enduring desert charm. Thanks also to the house manager, John, who stopped by a couple of times during our visit to help us with some minor incidentals. Christmas wish... a light over the sink in the kitchen.February 2014This was our fifth – at least? – year there and as always it was an absolute delight! We appreciate how it is clear every year we go back that efforts have been made to maintain and upgrade the property. We LOVE it there and wish we could come more!November 2013Terlingua house was a great place to host our family Thanksgiving! The house is in a great location just South of Terlingua Ghost town and North of Lajitas. This provides great access to Big Bend State Park and the beautiful drive along the Rio Grande and 2 minutes from Ghost town and 20 min from the entrance to the National Park. The three separate bedrooms had plenty of cozy furnishings and room for all. The kitchen was a comfortable gathering place for dinner and Thanksgiving dinner. The fire pit offered a fun outdoor gathering area. The property managers also provided great service. I would highly recommend for a family getaway.June 2013I live in the suburbs and commute to work in a large city with horrible traffic (Hint, hint....Austin, Texas). I was so looking forward to peace, solitude and the beauty of Big Bend. My family and I got that and then some. Since returning, I've spent a lot of my free time thinking about when I can get back. If you can appreciate the beauty of Big Bend and you're looking for solitude with all the comforts of home, this is the place for you.
January 2011I and my family reserved the Terlingua House....... We plan on reserving a year from now........I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed it, and how much we look forward to staying there again. Thanks....JK

We did some of the main features – the basin, the window trail and Santa Elena Canyon …. We recommend them all. However, at the end of each day - sometimes earlier, we were delighted to return “home” to Terlingua House for a nice cup of tea on the balcony at sunset, dinner, a game of scrabble and a comfortable night’s sleep. A truly relaxing, delightful place to stay. – JC, Surray, England
